Join us for one of our many specialist walks, workshops or garden tours. Below are the topics and dates for these specialised events:
9 March – Mother's Day Bouquets Celebrate Mother's Day by creating your own handtied bouquet under the instruction of our resident florist Lorna Brownlee.
13 March – Bulbs, Buds and Blooms Come and explore the gardens at Hillsborough Castle with Garden Manager Claire Woods at this exciting time of the year when everything is bursting into bloom. See early bulbs in flower and the magnificent magnolias and camellias. Learn about the history, plants and people who shaped and planted the gardens.
28 March – Easter Flower Arranging Join resident florist Lorna Brownlee this spring to create your own Easter-themed arrangement under expert tuition. Maximum capacity of 15 people.
6 April – Seed Sowing Join the Walled Garden Team and learn how to sow a range of seeds, annuals and perennial, flowers and vegetables. Get hands on preparing compost, filling seed trays and sowing the seed, ready to take home and germinate. All materials are supplied in a workshop.
17 April – Wander Lonely as a Cloud on our Daffodil Walk Wander through the garden and around the lake to enjoy the wide range of daffodils with expert Garden Manager Claire Woods. You will be introduced to the late daffodils still in flower as well as the early Rhododendrons.
25 April – Spring Handties SOLD OUT Harvest and condition flowers from the gardens at Hillsborough and create your own hand-tied bouquet under the instruction of our resident florist Lorna Brownlee. Maximum capacity of 15 people.
11 May – Spring Planting Learn how to plant out a range of vegetables and flowers in the garden with the Walled Garden Team. From preparing the soil, correct spacing and planting depth to getting your lines straight the team will give you expert guidance. All materials are supplied in this workshop.
15 May – Planting Productive Vegetable Gardens Come and join Daniel Coombes and the Walled Garden team as they introduce you to the range of fruit and vegetables being grown this year and explain the techniques they are using. Examine the early crops and enjoy the fruit blossom.
18 May – Late Spring Bouquets Harvest and condition flowers from Hillsborough's gardens and, under the instruction of our resident florist Lorna Brownlee, create your own hand-tied bouquet.
