George III: The Mind Behind the Myth: Evening Tours
Experience Kew Palace’s ground-breaking new exhibition in a more personal way, with an evening tour.
You’ll enjoy a glass of wine (or soft drink) in the beautiful Kitchen Garden while you learn about how the royal cooks prepared meals fit for a King and how the Kitchens came to be abandoned in 1818. Then, in socially distanced groups of no more than 12, your costumed guide will take you round the intimate home of the Royal Family: Kew Palace.
You’ll go behind the myth to uncover the real story of the King, through an exhibition of the personal belongings of the King. You’ll learn about how mental health was considered in the 18th century and explore how much attitudes have changed in the last 200 years – and how they haven’t. Your host will also show you the most secret parts of the Palace, kept shut during the day; the attics, complete with 17th century witches’ marks, and an original Tudor undercroft.
